ABOUT

January 25, 2008

Marmalade Photography has taken me, Marianne, on an amazing life journey. This workshop is truly a dream come true for me. Four years ago, after attending my first photography workshop, I was filled with a million AHA! moments. Moments where, for me, things just came together. I loved feeling those aha! moments and wanted to share them with everyone I knew.  I felt enlightened and enriched by those nuggets of information that started me on the journey for photography success.

The problem was that the workshop I attended was geared towards the generalist photographer. It was wonderful and really spurred me to excel and was put on by some amazing photographers that wowed and awed me in every way, shape and form but much of it wasn’t applicable for the type of business model I had in mind.  At the time there WERE NO workshops geared towards the niche of photography I chose to pursue. So I made due, pieced together thousands of bits of information, discovered new wonderful (and sometimes misinformed) resources, continued to prosper and grow and found out that I was onto something.  A path of success and a path of client enrichment.

Soon after, I started my own personal workshop notebook filled with snippets of information, data and personal experiences. So for me, the workshop was three years in the making, I knew after that first workshop that I attended that I wanted to make a difference for child and family photographers everywhere. My notebook is overflowing with snippets of information that I have utilized (or not). Several years of tried & true business knowledge under my belt, direct client communication and feedback included,

I feel I can now finally bring this experience to you and give you the benefits of my aha! moments. Invaluable information will be presented to a small number of workshop attendees. I firmly believe that personalized attention is paramount for learning solid business and marketing skills.

As an attendee at the workshop you will benefit from:

• discussions regarding business policies

• marketing strategies that utilize resources without dipping into your financial nest egg

• building your business name and reputation

• creating a workable and usable workflow

• client presentation and well as presentation "fluff"

• branding strategies

• inspiration and how to create your own vision

• Photoshop retouch basics, building your ‘look’

• customer service and the importance of developing value

• personalized (optional) 1:1 portfolio critiques

• and much much more

This workshop is geared towards being a serious business owner as well as creative photographer.  I will be presenting sound business information based on my own practice.  This is meant to be an intense and fun learning experience based on my experiences as a children’s photographer in a growing industry.  No topic or question will remain unanswered.

P B: There are a couple of us who are VERY interested in signing up!! SO excited!

Natasha: Looks totally awesome and I'd love to come, but unfortunately living so far away doesn't make that at all possible. Would you consider hosting an online workshop as well?

Mare: This might be a future endeavor for me but at this point I'm not certain about the logisitics behind the scenes of this kind of undertaking. :)

sylvia: Woo-Hoo! I'm excited for you Mare! This will be the workshop of the year!

Alisa Conn: Will you be offering any other dates? I can not attend the dates you have posted. Is there an agenda?

Carrie Madej: would you make an exception to your distance requirement if I am 77 miles away from you? I sure hope so!

admin: Alisa, I am looking at this as an ongoing thing currently. However if there does not seem to be enough interest I may decide to not offer any further workshops. Depends on how this first one goes. :) The agenda is briefly discussed above as well as on the Tuesday, February 5, 2008 entry.

vicki: love your work. Can you provide detail on times and what exactly is covered and included.

Mare: Hi Vicki, you should've rec'd an email with details earlier in the week. If you did not receive it, please let me know. I am looking forward to meeting everyone and cannot wait!!

Annie: I love your work and was wondering if the workshop is full? I live out west but have family in the IL area so it could potentially work. Looking forward to hearing from you! Congrats on the big step! Annie:)

Pam: hi, Unfortunately I won't be able to attend the workshop. Your work is absolutely beautiful. I was wondering if you sell your actions and borders? I would be interested in purchasing. thanks so much, Pam

martha: think i'll be in chicago in october! anything goin' on then? :) looks fantastic!

kim wavra: i am wondering if you still have this workshop, and if it is available online. if not, do you know any other courses? i have a canon 40D and am learning how to use it. thanks.
